Tomato, Garlic and Herb Bread

To go with the soup made from yesterday's stock, some savoury herbed bread.

Several years ago I bought my parents a bread machine for Xmas, and it was my Dad who took up the making of bread. The idea of adding fresh garlic to the dough is his.

  • 7/8 cup water
  • a couple of tbsp milk powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups bread flour - a 50:50 mix of white and wholewheat
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • A couple of tbsp of dried herbs - I used Rosemary and Oregano
  • A handful of (sun) dried tomatoes - snipped into small pieces
  • Half a dozen cloves of fresh garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • A couple of tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp dried yeast
Pile the ingredients into a bread machine in the order recommended for the machine type.
Bake on wholemeal loaf programme.
